Value: 100 Crore | The first public swimming pool in the NMMC as well as in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) has got stuck on land use change. The three-year old project first got mired in the face-off between the ruling party and opposition in the civic body when Shiv Sena, that has a shakha office on the front of the allotted land, refused to shift. Later, the issue got sorted out as the party leaders were ready to shift its office to another place as per arrangement with the civic administration
The civic body sent the proposal of integrating two adjacent plots to Cidco around two months ago seeking a change as the plot in sector 12, Vashi, was earmarked for two different projects—the swimming pool and the NMMT depot
If Cidco takes a quick call before the year-end, NMMC could do the needful and provide the swimming pool to the people because the civic development plan would be ready by December in which the reservation for land would be made. The plan in use at present is the one made by Cidco
NMMC commissioner, Ramaswami N said, “The detailed project report is also ready and we are awaiting Cidco’s decision
”
The integrated commercial complex to be developed will cost around Rs 100 crore. It will have a bus terminus and an Olympic size publicswimming pool with a sports complex. Navi Mumbai Municipal transport (NMMT) will have a greater area apportioned for the commercial complex. NMMC will recover the development cost from the revenue earned from the complex
